Brewers tender offers to 6
December 12th, 2009 | by adamburnett |The Brewers have tendered contracts to Dave Bush, Todd Coffey, Carlos Villanueva, Jody Gerut, Carlos Gomez, and Corey Hart. Each player will now be under the teams control at a price yet to be determined for the 2010 campaign. January 19th is the cut off date for a deal to get done before scheduling an arbitration hearing that will take place in February. The two sides can negotiate right up until the arbitration hearing. If the player is still unsigned by the hearing date, his agent and a representative of the team will each make a case to a three-member panel, which must choose between the players and teams proposals. Often times the two sides agree to deal before the arbitration hearing. Seth McClung, Mark DiFelice, and Mike Rivera were not tendered contracts for the 2010 season. DiFelice is out for the 2010 season with surgery and could be resigned at a later date to a minor league deal. McClung and Rivera were victims of the numbers game in the bullpen and behind the plate. Bush and Villanueva are coming off down years yet will get a raise. I’m still torn on as to whether or not I would have tendered those two contracts.
